Emma Franks  Asuncion English 9 Honors 16 November 2015 The Fault in Our Stars             The Fault in Our Stars is a about a sixteen-year-old girl named Hazel who has lung cancer, and a boy named Augustus Waters who had osteosarcoma  which caused him to lose his leg. They meet at a cancer support group and they quickly fall in love. This is a book that shows the reality of young people living with, and dying of cancer, and still manages to convey a sense of humor and romance. This book had me crying one minute and laughing the next, as I believe every good book can make you do.             There are many deep, metaphorical thoughts in this book, and some rather silly ones. I read this book in seventh grade and I loved it! The main character Melody Brooks has cerebral palsy, a disease that limits her abilities. She can’t walk, talk, move and do simple tasks, such as feeding herself.She can’t communicate with anyone so nobody understands her. All her life she has been in the same specials needs class at her school, learning the same lessons each year. Melody however has a photographic memory and she is probably the smartest person in her whole school. Nobody thinks Melody knows anything, and assumes she is mentally retarded. Many reefs are being destroyed due to overfishing, boating, pollution, and human activity. Should coral reefs be protected even more? Coral reefs are a ridge of rock in the sea formed by the growth and deposit of coral. Coral is actually an animal in the cnidarian Phylum. The reason they live in reefs is because they are sessile animals meaning they are immobile. There are about 6,000 known species of corals some being Brain coral, Fan coral, and Elkhorn coral. The largest coral reef on the planet is the Great Barrier Reef. It is 1,553 miles long and located in the Coral Sea in Australia.
