The Blood of Olympus
What happens when you mix Roman and Greek Mythology together to make a suspenseful and enthusiastic series? The Blood of Olympus! Everything is going to fast, and not enough time. Gaea (the Earth goddess and the main antagonist) is growing stronger every second. Her children, the giants are coming back to destroy the gods and the heroes. Percy, Annabeth, Jason, Piper, Leo, Hazel, and Frank are the only heroes able to stop Gaea and her children from killing everything and everyone they love. While in New York, Octavian, the Augur of Camp Jupiter, have convinced every Roman in the camp to kill all the Greeks at Camp Half-Blood. They finally arrived and are ready to attack. The only thing stopping them from a war is the Athena Parthenos which was lost a long time ago. The Heroes have finally found the Athena Parthenos, the only problem returning it is, they are halfway across the Earth and does not have enough time to return the Athena Parthenos and stop Gaea. Even if they had enough time to return the stature with the help of Reyna, Nico, and Coach Hedge, how can they stop the grandmother of Gods? Especially the only thing she needs from rising are two single drops of blood from a boy and a girl hero. On top of that, standing from them and Gaea, is a whole army of giants and only seven of them. What can they do since the gods are too busy fighting with each other?
Rick Riordan is an amazing writer, he wrote the amazing Percy Jackson series which got every kid and teen to actually read about Greek mythology. With his other series as well (Kane Chronicles), Rick has outdone himself again with this breathtaking finale to the Heroes of Olympus Series. The book has amazing humor in the right places during tense moments. He writes amazing action sequences in this book. He finds new ways for keeping up with this generations humor, style, and even some interesting inventions and TV shows kids like to do and watch. Finding new ways to keep one Hero busy through out the book is tough enough, but having more than four characters narrating different parts of the story, telling their experiences, emotions, and writing in many different styles for each individual is incredibly tough. Somehow Rick Riordan does all this together and keep an interesting story. This book is thrilling and is always keeping me on the edge of my seat. This book will keep you interested and make you read it over and over again. I give this book five stars and can’t wait till what else Rick Riordan has in store for us.
